Racing Heart

I am filled with emotion right now.  There have been mountains moving in Ghana and I could not be happier!  We don’t have much in specifics yet, but – God willing – our case will go before a judge in Ghana THIS WEEK!!!!!  If all goes as planned (that would be a first!)…the children we’ve been praying for for soooo long will be legally ours…FOREVER…by this weekend!!!!!  I can hardly believe it.

21 months after deciding to follow God’s call to adoption…18 months after beginning the “paper chase”…7 months after seeing their faces for the first time…they might finally be OURS!  Please God see this through!!!

Providing we pass court with no delays, our next step will be to travel to Ghana to file our I-600 with USCIS for the kids’ immigrant visas.  We’ll spend a week or two in country…with OUR CHILDREN the whole time.

We have no idea when we’re going to get the call to finally travel…so my mind is racing…travel visas, inoculations, packing lists, donations, airline tickets, childcare for the 2 here…there’s SO much to coordinate in an undetermined amount of time.

My heart is racing…do C & M understand what happens at court?  Do they know there’s a mommy & daddy in America that already love them & pray for them every day?  Do they have any idea what their future holds??  How will they react when they see us for the first time?  Will they attach easily?  What size clothes should we take for them?  What size shoes?  Will leaving them at the orphanage while we travel home to wait for their visas cause them greater trauma & stress?  Will it hurt our attachment?

Hundreds of questions…no answers.  Only time will tell.

For now…I will praise the God of Heaven for answering prayers to get us to this point.  I will continue to pray for His Almighty hand to guide us down the rest of this journey.

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from?  My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.  He will not let your foot slip—he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.  The LORD watches over you—the LORD is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.  The LORD will keep you from all harm—he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.   ~Psalm 121

  1. Hi, I don’t remember how exactly I found your site, but I too am adopting from Ghana with Hopscotch. My questions are so many…for starters, how did you find your children-was it on the waiting children site? Are there primarily special needs children on the hopscotch site? We didn’t even think to inquire about the waiting children. Do you mind if we email privately?
